The Challenge
A global technology company (anonymized per NDA) was rolling out an AI-powered analytics platform to 12,000 knowledge workers. Despite the platform's sophistication, early pilot groups showed only 23% active usage after 30 days.
The Diagnosis
Using the ADKAR model, we identified that the primary barrier was at the Desire level. Employees understood the tool (Awareness ✓, Knowledge ✓) but didn't see personal value in changing their established workflows. Many feared that AI would expose inefficiencies or make their analytical skills redundant.
The Intervention
- Personal Value Stories: We created role-specific narratives showing how the AI tool saved 3-5 hours per week for similar roles.
- Peer Advocacy Network: Early adopters were empowered to demonstrate value in team meetings.
- Manager Accountability: Middle managers were equipped with ADKAR-based coaching conversations.
The Results
Active usage jumped from 23% to 78% within 60 days. The initiative was recognized internally as a model for future AI deployments.
